Those visitors to Japan who were affected by the country’s 2011 natural disasters or nuclear meltdown may be protected by their traveler’s insurance.
Generally speaking, travel insurance policies do not specifically cover earthquakes, tsunamis or claims resulting from nuclear meltdown. However, the good news is that some policies provide benefits for trip cancellation or interruption if there is a government warning advising against travel to a region within a country.
